This recipe for a Basic Salsa, something everyone needs to know how to make for creating an amazing dip, spread, appetizer — you name it on the spur of the moment.

  1. Drop the garlic into a small saucepan of boiling water. Let boil,uncovered, over moderate heat for 2 minutes. Drain well, then mince.
  2. Place the minced garlic in a medium sized bowl and mix in the tomatoes, onion, coriander, lime juice, and salt.
  3. Cover with plastic food wrap and let stand at room temperature for at least 1 hour. Actually, the longer it stands the more better the taste.
  4. Keeps in the refrigerator for approx. one week
  5. Servings: 3 cups
